What are the most commonly found benefits of Reiki?
-Pain from past or current physical trauma to body decreased or eliminated
-Emotional or mental states returning to what you feel is your normal flow
-Blocks in energy centres can cause physical, mental or emotional pain, I’ve watched clients dissipate and release in whatever form it shows up ie. Laughter, crying.
What to expect following a Reiki treatment?
I think the hardest lesson we face is to not have expectations of anything happening, to be in what shows up for each of us individually, Reiki will tailor to our needs. Some of us feel the energy, some see energy, it all shows up uniquely. Usually you can expect to feel an extreme sense of relaxation if you are open to receiving your treatment. If you are guarded or uncertain you may feel restless or some type of weight during your treatment. You may find that over the course of the days following things that were painful in any regard may not be anymore, or find they are less bothersome. You may also find that you are using the washroom more, this is because your body is detoxing what is no longer needed, we all have our ways of releasing and Reiki facilitates a safe space that is unique to yourself and your individual needs.
What is the Reiki Restorative workshop you are hosting?
When I first started to practice yoga, I often found myself gravitating towards teachers who held an energy healing modality. In my first 50 hour yoga immersion we were in a yin class and my teacher Lisa asked if she could provide some Reiki for me (after learning I was taking my Level I at the time) I said “yes please!” The complete and utter relaxation that I felt, the comfort and support of my props, everything just started to slowly dissolve and I became one with my healing in that moment. For me the combination of the pose and the hand placement just took me to a new place on my mat, a space that I wanted to provide for others.
I walked out of there that day ensuring myself that I will teach Reiki and Restorative yoga together someday. So almost two years later, I am able to provide those two options together and facilitate a space for more healing to happen on your mat. I was told in my Yoga teacher training to teach what we know, and what I know is my want to help provide a space to heal and to heal together. Knowing I was in a room of people all supporting each other in their healing led me to a space of complete raw openness ready to commit myself to my dreams. I have taken that dream and created a reality on my mat, now I’m giving you the option to bring it to yours.
What happens at Reiki Restorative?
Like most yoga classes, you will walk through that beautiful door and hear the bells jingle, hearing you’ve arrived at the right place. You’ll find your space in the room, with as many props as possible (Being mindful you may not be the only person in the room so please remember that lovely lesson of sharing) setting up close to a wall if space allows. Setting yourself up in your most comfortable Savasana and allowing others to enter the class in their own time. As everybody becomes settled on their mats I will introduce to you the class, a little about myself, Reiki and what I am facilitating for you. I will guide you into restorative poses that will be held for a minimum time frame to allow the body to truly relax, in this time I will walk around and place sandbags on areas of your body that are infused with your individual energy. Depending on class sizes you may receive more hands on Reiki with your sandbags, please do not be alarmed if you receive more hands on healing touch during this class than in past or future classes it just means that I can facilitate differently with different class sizes. ** I do ask that you do not touch others sandbags or props during this class as it will be set up for each of you to have your own energetically charged props.
** If you have your own props, sandbags etc. you would like to use for this class, please feel free to bring them**
Reminder: Please drink plenty of water before and after class – you are welcome to drink when needed during class as well. Some people may get cold or warm during this time, feel free to bring or wear layers, blankets, hats, ponchos… whatever you feel comfortable with. You are welcome to bring any crystal, gem or some type of small object that has meaning to your healing to place at the top of your mat and energetic space. Every time I offer this class its an opportunity for all of us to grow, I am still a new teacher spreading my wings, all comments and feedback are welcomed and cherished, I’m looking forward to seeing you on your mats!
