I have always found great satisfaction in helping others, making people feel good, and have always enjoyed giving massages to people. I wanted to know more about what I was doing and to learn actual massage techniques. I started my journey to discover what kind of massage I wanted to learn last winter of 2013 in Thailand, when I took a two-day Thai massage course in Chang Mai. I loved it! This course went hand in hand with my passion for yoga and learning about the human body. On the island of Koh Phangnon I took my Reiki Level 1 course and a six-day yoga workshop, and ended up doing 3 more weeks of yoga there.

When I got back to Canada in the spring of 2013 I enrolled in the Clearheart bodywork course here in Nelson. In this course I learned rebalancing massage, which originates from five different massage therapies; Shiatsu, Feldenkrais, Eselen massage, Tragger and Rolffing. Rebalancing helps bring body awareness and is a form of energy release. In rebalancing, we work out the limbs away from the heart using joint release and deep tissue work. Joint release is a series of rocking, stretching, and compression release movements to relax the body, and to bring movement to the skeletal system. This allows space or compression where needed, and range of motion to help bring back mobility to limbs or joints which are limited in movement due to injury.
